The Flying carpet Oriental rugs began its life in 1972 in the back room of The Cabin Antiques shop in Florence. The Cabin Antiques, alway owned by the Wright family, had been selling antiques and oriental rugs since the 1920's. We no longer sell antique furniture, but we do sell Antique oriental rugs (defined as being woven before World War I), as well as new and more recent rugs.

During the week of June 16 to June 21, the Huntsville showroom will be closed for vacation. We will reopen on June 24 for normal operating hours (9:00 am to 5:00pm) The Florence showroom will be open as normal.

A point of pride for us is that we sell good rugs at REAL prices. We don't overprice our inventory, just to offer a big discount as a sales gimmick. Our everyday prices are usually less than the discounted prices you'll find elsewhere, even in online rug sales sites! When we discount a rug to half-price, we are literally losing money on the sale. Sometimes, though, we need to sell older inventory just for space!

Our Huntsville showroom is now open Tuesday-Friday from 9:30am to 5:00pm, and by appointment on Saturdays. It will be closed on Sundays and Mondays. The Florence showroom is open Monday-Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday 9:00am to 4:00pm. Our Florence, Alabama showroom is located West of Florence on Highway 20, one mile West of Cox Creek Parkway (highway 133). You may call us at the location at (256) 764-1852.

We now offer proffesional decorator services at both locations, with Julie Gargis in our Huntsville showroom one day per week, and Lacy Kennemer in our Florence location four days per week.
